Agriculture and agri-food processing are the main characteristics of Tarnów County’s economy. This uniqueness of the county, based on entrepreneurial activity of its residents, manifested by a large number of small, family businesses, will still be maintained. However, in order to maintain the sustainable development of the District, it is necessary to take actions encouraging residents and entrepreneurs aimed at developing other sectors of the local economy. The location of the District in the immediate vicinity of the city of Tarnów should be used to intensify coordinated actvities aimed at developing cooperation using the economic potential of the District. The A4 highway running through the District, currently available exits and the planned exit from the A4 are still an opportunity to locate investments in its area. The cooperation of the District authorities with the authorities of the Municipalities and the CIty of Tarnów in the field of integrating the investment offer and searching for opportunities to designate available and commercially attractive areas for investments will strengthen the economy of the District. Actions within this crucial area are pointed to improve the infrastructure that supports the development of business activity and attracts investors by creating better conditions for coordinated systemic cooperation of business services and active economic promotion of the county. Other actions, that can help to achieve strategic goal, are: flexible junction of the labour market with education system, especially vocational, and supporting agriculture and agricultural activity. The effect of the measures taken is to increase the investment attractiveness of the County, increase the number of jobs in local companies and increase the level of entrepreneurship among the residents of the County, as well as improve the conditions for agricultural producers and the agricultural sector.

Tarnów County supports entrepreneurs and investors who are creating new work places. Also the county organizes fairs, exhibitions, events promoting and integrating local entrepreneurs, promotes good practices in terms of local entrepreneurship and cooperation between companies, promotes buinessmen, products and brands of Tarnów region, tightens cooperation between schools from the district and enterprises.
